Case Study 2: Netgear ReadyNAS Firmware & Electronic Failure

Client has a Netgear ReadyNAS and is having a lot of problems with it. The drive contains business critical data and needs to be recovered ASAP. The Netgear ReadyNAS is a 4 disk system using Netgear Raid X. By mistake the client deleted their work directory which contained all their current projects. Client tried to undelete the data but could not do this. Client contacted Netgear Tech Support but they could not reverse the deletion. As soon as client realised that they could not get back the data they turned of Netgear ReadyNAS and sent it to us.

We diagnosed that the Netgear ReadyNAS system had 3 failed hard disks. The hard disks had firmware and electronic damage. We update the 3 hard drives with new electronics and upgraded the firmware on each hard drive. We then imaged the hard drives and processed the Raid X system. We recovered all data within 48 hours and backed up the data to an internal sata hard drive.
